HoEV - Dhaval Bacholkar
I have over 17 years of work experience in the IT sector. Like any other aware citizen of the country, I understand and relate with the growing need of environmental conservation and sustainable choices of living, however I didn't quite know how to contribute to the cause.
An extraordinary change in my life happened the day I bought my first electric vehicle (EV) a year ago. I own a Bajaj Chetak which was probably one of the best decisions I have made so far.
There were several deciding factors that led me to make this change to an EV. One such factor was the horrendous rise in fuel prices. Although I did my research and it suggested that every three years a battery replacement is required for an EV, with the battery replacement as well, it works out to be much cheaper as compared to riding an ICE vehicle.
My need for a bike was a simple one, which was required for city rides, and since all the factors matched perfectly with my requirement, I was convinced that this is the right choice for me. Personally and professionally, I am a firm believer that change is the only constant. This thought and belief is what drove me to adapt with the new technology which turned out to be an extremely practical choice to welcome an EV. It is also very comforting for me to see my wife also use the bike, and how happy she is with it.
The cherry on the cake is the servicing provided by the company and no maintenance cost that is required by the vehicle. If at all there is something that I would see as a limitation in the bike, it would be the start button which could possibly require a replacement in the future. Overall, the bike is smooth and very powerful to ride.
Charging the bike is a seamless procedure. I have installed a charging station in my parking space which makes it easy for me to charge it as per my convenience. I spend an approximate figure of Rs 300 per month to charge my bike, which requires a charging session 2-3 times per week.
Three of my closest friends also own an EV, which makes me feel quite happy and satisfied to see that people are slowly but surely understanding the importance of adapting to an EV. It is a switch I would highly recommend to everyone who would like to be a part of a better tomorrow.
