HoEV - Salish Thumboli
I am a recent EV owner, from Kochi, Kerala, and I bought an EV with the belief that my contribution to the environment would make a positive difference in the view of how we commute in our daily lives. I have been in the solar industry for 15 years and imported solar cells from China. I am a strong believer of renewable energy and have also installed a solar plant in my society.
My switch from an ICE vehicle to the Tata Nexon is one of the best decisions I've made, especially since all EV’s are automatic, it makes it an even more comfortable drive for longer distances. The Nexon has a huge engine system, with a convenient charging solution which allows me a single use travel to upto 200 kms. The EV is easy to handle and has a start/ parking switch which facilitates the overall experience and ease of drive.
The main motive with which I bought a Tata Nexon is the blessings of independent bungalows in Kerala, which provides sufficient space within the premises to charge the vehicle. Although I live in Mumbai, I have plans to drive down to Kerala from Mumbai in my EV, which is one such challenge that I am facing, and would travel once a well-established charging infrastructure on highways is in place.
My suggestion would be that the Government should ramp up the EV charging infrastructure quickly and install it in public places. EV drivers should get the convenience of charging their vehicles at restaurants, malls, offices and other public places, this will motivate more and more people to adopt EVs.
